WE Build Stronger, Faster, explosive, More Resilient Athletes — The Right Way.
Sports Performance Training OPTIONS for Youth Athletes:
PRIVATE TRAINING
If you’re looking for one-on-one coaching that is entirely dedicated to your child’s needs and goals, private sessions are the way to go. We start with one initial assessment/workout to make sure the chemistry is there and it feels like the right match for the athlete. From there, we ask for a commitment of 10 sessions in order to hold the coach’s time and for them to write a progressive program specific to your athlete’s needs.
SEMI-PRIVATE TRAINING
For 2-3 athletes of similar age and skill level, training in tandem that can work well to keep each other motivated and accountable.
SMALL GROUP TRAINING (a.k.a. “The ironworks”)
Expect a mix of strength, speed, agility and power with joint/mobility prep to keep them safe and get the max out of their effort. Athletes don’t load until they’re ready and have mastered the proper movement mechanics. As athletes progress with us, they’ll improve speed, strength, explosiveness, overall athleticism and toughen their mental game.
Send your athlete on Wednesdays @ 4PM for The Ironworks, OR, put your own group of 4-6 athletes together and we’ll pair them with the right coach.
The Ironworks: SMALL GROUP Strength, Speed, AGILITY & Injury Prevention for Every Sport
WEDNESDAYS @ 4PM IN NEW YORK CITY
Our foundational strength and conditioning program, The Ironworks, builds resilient, confident athletes by focusing on technique and movement quality. Athletes learn their way around the gym floor with an introduction to loading (lifting) as our coaches deem they’re ready. The fundamentals they’ll gain are relevant to every sport. Group are kept small to maintain maximum attention to form.
Athletes can expect to gain strength, speed and power through circuit training as well as improve coordination, balance, body awareness, mobility, cardiovascular fitness and movement mechanics. They will improve their economy of movement and mental game, leading to better performance. Work smarter not harder.
We focus on laying a brick foundation for lifelong athletic success. If they make it to the next level, but they’re chronically injured or their hips/ankles/shoulders don’t move well… they’ll burn out. We’re solving that now.
Have a group of teammates or friends of similar age/fitness/ability? Contact us to set up small group sessions around your practice and game schedule.

Coach CHRIS MATTINA
Elite Youth Performance Coach & Former USA Rugby International
Performance coach Chris Mattina brings exceptional leadership to youth athletic development, drawing from a decorated career as a professional athlete and key figure in American rugby. As the Executive Director of the U.S. Rugby Players Association, Chris advocates on behalf of USA National Team players and Major League Rugby athletes, shaping the future of the sport at the highest level. He knows firsthand what it takes to thrive in competitive athletics — and he’s committed to helping young athletes build the mindset, habits and skills to do the same.
A former USA Rugby 7s and 15s international, Chris played seven seasons in Major League Rugby, competing against the top players in the world and earning national team selections in both formats. His journey to the elite level was built on hard work, resilience, and multi-sport development.
Born and raised on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Chris was a standout three-sport athlete, excelling in basketball, football, and rugby. He also played soccer competitively. This well-rounded athletic foundation contributed to his success on the field and beyond.
Chris earned a degree in Exercise Science with double minors in Strength & Conditioning and Coaching Science as a Division 1-AA athlete. He was then selected to the USA Rugby 7s Olympic Team, training at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego and competing internationally on the World Rugby Sevens Series before continuing his professional career.
Now retired from professional play, Chris channels his passion for mentorship into youth athletic development. Chris founded CM Rugby Academy, which focuses on youth athletic development and helping athletes elevate their opportunities in rugby. He also runs Rugby 4 All, a program designed to introduce rugby to schools in the NYC area. His approach is grounded in treating every athlete like a pro — prioritizing mental resilience, physical strength, cardiovascular fitness, mobility, and proper nutrition. He combines high-performance training with a supportive, motivating environment, giving young athletes the tools they need to help them reach their full potential.

Coach BEN Brzoski
As a rugby player, lifelong athlete and passionate coach, Ben truly understands what it’s like to be on both sides of the coach/player relationship. He embraced training from a young age and worked his tail off for everything he achieved in sport. Never feeling he was blessed with “natural talent,” Ben didn’t develop into a standout athlete until high school.
He continues to train now, allowing him the ability to play rugby at a high level year-round, and continue improving his performance. As a coach, he is a facilitator of growth, and is humbled by the rewarding opportunity to shape the lives of young athletes.
Born and raised in Fairfield CT, Ben attended Fairfield Ludlowe High School and was a three-sport athlete (football, wrestling and rugby). He went on to UMass Amherst to major in Kinesiology, minor in Psychology and play rugby for their D1 club team. After honing his coaching and programming skills, he landed his first Head Strength & Conditioning Coach gig for Rugby United New York during their first year in the MLR, then became the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Fairfield College Preparatory School, coaching over 100 athletes a day. Currently, Ben is the Assistant Coach for Fairfield Rugby Club’s high school team and our Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the elite hockey players Clutch PT serves at the Breakaway Academy in Norwalk, CT.
